How to cancel LA Fitness in California
The basics are the same as our LA Fitness guide. Here's what is specific to California.
California-specific facts
- LA Fitness's cancellation P.O. Box is in California: P.O. Box 54170, Irvine, CA 92619.
- California's 5-business-day cooling-off right (Cal. Civ. Code § 1812.85) applies to California health-studio contracts on top of LA Fitness's own month-to-month cancellation policy.
- If you move more than 25 miles away and can't transfer to a comparable facility, Cal. Civ. Code § 1812.89(b) relieves you of future payments.
LA Fitness: how to cancel
- By mail: send written notice of cancellation to LA Fitness, P.O. Box 54170, Irvine, CA 92619. LA Fitness recommends registered or certified mail and keeping a record.
- In person: at a club's front desk.
- Online or other: through your online account, or as your agreement provides. LA Fitness says that depending on your state of enrollment you may be able to cancel by email.
California law in brief
Cooling-off: You can cancel before midnight of the fifth business day of the health studio after the date of the agreement, not counting Sundays and holidays.
Disability / death: Disability or death: if a physician-verified disability keeps you from using the facilities, or you die, you (or your estate) are relieved of future payments, and prepaid amounts for unused services must be refunded.
Moving away: Moving: if you move more than 25 miles from the health studio and can't transfer to a comparable facility, you are relieved of future payments and prepaid unused amounts must be refunded. The contract may allow a predetermined relocation fee of up to $100 (lower later in the term).
